The VIOFO A129 Pro Duo is currently VIOFO's flagship 2-channel dash cam and absolutely blows away the competition away in terms of video quality. With 4K front and 1080P rear resolutions combined with Sony sensors and high bitrate recording, the video is noticeably better than some of our other 4K camera options. We also really like the compact size of these dash cams and the fairly simple WiFi app. That being said, even a larger 128GB memory card fills up relatively quickly on this camera making it one of the only few drawbacks to this system, particularly for those looking for parking mode.
We installed the front camera on this brand new Toyota Highlander right up against the windshield module which houses the factory safety sensors. This gives a centered and wide angle view. For the rear camera, this latest generation Highlander does away with the opening rear glass so installation is a bit more straightforward than before. That being said, one of our biggest gripes with the A129 Duo/Pro Duo is the rear camera cable which sticks straight up from the rear camera, rather than from the side. Because of this, the rear camera has to be mounted about 1.5 to 2" lower than it normally is with other camera systems. We need to avoid the USB hitting the plastic trim of the vehicle so we have to mount the camera lower than we'd like.
