The Pioneer TS-WX1210A is a tremendous value for upgrading any sound system, be it with a factory stereo or aftermarket head unit. It's a neat package with a built-in flush mounted amplifier on the side of the box. This subwoofer also comes with it's own remote bass knob which isn't something that's always included on all mono amps.
With a car like this 2019 Kia Optima, the factory head unit already has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and although there isn't a premium sound system, our customer was satisfied by the quality of the speakers. He did however, like many others, want more bass out of this system. There are different ways to go about this, such as adding an underseat subwoofer or simply upgrading the door speakers. However, a 6.5" speaker or 8" shallow underseat sub simply can't compare to the deeper bass of a standard sized 12" enclosure.
Because of this, our customer opted to sacrifice a bit of trunk space for the Pioneer powered enclosure. This enclosure also comes in a marginally smaller 10" version. He liked the fact that this sub had a metal grille on it as he often carries tools in the trunk for work. The wiring harness on this subwoofer is built for high-level inputs and can work with factory radios without a problem. We typically get speaker signal off of the rear speakers. For the power level of this subwoofer, 10 gauge wire is sufficient to feed the internal amp. We were able to install the bass knob on a fairly concealed spot on the fuse panel cover.
