We installed the Thinkware 2-channel Q800 Pro dash cam with the Thinkware iVolt battery pack on this brand new Porsche 911 Carrera (992).
With this installation, we were able to keep the battery pack entirely hidden away, above the fuse box, behind the passenger-side footwell. The iVolt battery pack charges while you drive, and takes the load off of your car battery that would otherwise be used to keep the dash cam running while the car isn't turned on.
Porsche's new GT cars come with lithium ion batteries, which are prohibitively expensive to replace. As such, a battery pack is always recommended to prevent any battery discharge related issues, warranty issues, and auto start/stop issues.
