We just picked up this new to us 2013 Scion FR-S and quickly got to work replacing the factory Pioneer radio. The factory system was decent for its time but it lacks modern conveniences like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and backup camera support. Some FR-S had the touchscreen option in which case you can add a backup camera if you have the dedicated harness but this one only had the standard CD/MP3 player. We installed the Sony XAV-AX5000 receiver with a Crux backup camera. The low profile backup camera sits right in the middle and looks like a factory unit. This unit has dual USB inputs and because it's a mechless receiver, it weighs less than the factory CD deck. This will be important as the car will see upgrades and racetrack preparation.
At the time of this post we have the Thinkware F800 Pro hardwired on this car but we will likely be swapping this unit down the road to test other dash cam models.
